    General Information

    Citrus Heights is a city with a population of 85,000 and a total area of 14 square miles in Sacramento, California.

    History. During the mid-16th to mid-19th centuries its territory was limited to a narrow coastal strip. With the Gold rush of 1849 the Californian population sharply increased and the territory saw a steady development ever since. From 1950 to the end of the millennium present-day Citrus Heights remained a part of Sacramento County`s Central Township in the state of California. In 1997 the city was finally incorporated after a decades-long struggle with the County Board of Supervisors.

    Climate. Citrus Height enjoys dry and hot summers with average temperature of 76° Fahrenheit and almost no rains during the three months of June, July and August. Winters are mild with average 45° in December. Months from November to March are characterized by fog and rainy weather. There are approx. 265 sunny days during the year.

    Community boundaries. Within the Sacramento County, Citrus Heights neighbors with Fair Oaks and Carmichael in the south, North Highlands in the west and Antelope in the north.

Corner Pocket is another nightlife place great for pool, darts or watching sports.     Notable residents

    The famous Golden State killer were living in Citrus Heights since 1980 until he was arrested in 2018. He has at least 13 murders, 50 rapes and 100 robberies on his conscience. The crimes were committed during the time period from 1974 to 1986. The suspect was identified with the help of personal genomics website, which allowed to find distant relatives of the killer.

    Taste of Citrus Heights. The event features food and beverage samples from many local vendors and helps raise funds for a police program.

    Senior Health Fair. Held in May each year at the community center, the annual Senior Health Fair features free exhibits, workshops, health screenings, and other activities.

    Red, White, and Blue Parade. Held on the final Saturday in June each year, the city’s popular parade draws thousands out to Sunrise Boulevard. The parade begins just north of Madison Avenue and concludes in front of Sunrise Mall.
